The role
As a Chef in our Arundel Restaurant, you’ll be managing all aspects of our food offering, becoming a wizard of the grill and pass. Playing an integral part in the smooth running of the kitchen.
It goes without saying you’ll need a healthy appetite, and not just for burgers – you’ll be hungry to deliver first-class food and contribute to the commercial success of the business. You’ll be responsible for delivering burger brilliance to our hungry customers. And as market leaders for burgers in the local area, you will be part of the team striving to maintain our high standards.

Early in 2015, we – that’s father and son Ian and Oliver – decided to team up and share our passions for burgers and craft beers. We wanted to use only the finest ingredients and best British produce to create delicious bespoke burgers, buns and sauces.
The result was The Burger Shop Co. and after months of “research” (tasting burgers and craft beers), the first Burger Shop opened its doors in Arundel on 29th November 2016.

About you
As our Chef, you’ll have at least one year’s kitchen experience and interpersonal skills to work alongside the rest of the team and become a key member of the team.

What you’ll do
Your responsibilities as Chef will include:
- Manage all day-to-day aspects of preparation and presentation of the food offer
- Become the wizard of the grill and pass
- Maintain levels of stock and carry out stock takes
- Ensure that methods of preparation, production and presentation comply with the Company’s specifications and procedures
- Ensure food safety and hygiene practices are being followed
- Motivate, manage and lead the kitchen production team to perform their roles to a high standard
- Training new starters

As General Manager at our Arundel Restaurant, you’ll be first in command at your site and absolutely integral to running the business alongside the restaurant owners. You’ll be our ‘go-to’ person – no problem will be too big or too small – and we won’t be able to do it without you.
You’ll also be the first point of contact for your team, leading from the front and supporting your colleagues’ performance and development.

What you’ll do

- Ensuring company policies are followed
- Recruiting, training and supervising staff
- Providing leadership, motivation and direction to all staff
- Agreeing and managing budgets
- Planning menus
- Ensuring compliance with licensing, hygiene and health & safety legislation and guidelines
- Promoting and marketing the business
- Overseeing stock levels and ordering supplies
- Ensuring product quality and availability
- Producing staff rotas
- Taking reservations, handling customer enquiries and complaints
- Greeting, advising and serving customers
- Preparing and presenting staffing and sales reports
- Keeping statistical and financial records
- Assessing and improving profitability
- Setting targets
- Handling administration and paperwork
- Liaising with customers, employees, suppliers, licensing authorities and sales representatives
- Making improvements to the running of the business and developing the restaurant

- Ensuring compliance with licensing, hygiene and health & safety legislation
- Cashing up and reconciling at the end of day
